Definition of joyful in English:ADJECTIVE
Feeling, expressing, or causing great pleasure and happiness:
I've been thinking about serving others quite a bit lately....and being joyful while doing it. As a new mom,it feels that sometimes that's all I do,serve my family day in and day out, without a lot of time to just do the things I want to or simply enjoy. I will admit,I got quite discouraged the other day when I thought about how this will probably be the way most of my life will be for many, many years,Lord Willing! And while I find great joy in being a wife and mom,I knew I needed a new outlook, one that was different than the one I was struggling with.
It was whispered to my heart one day...how Jesus served others. And how He came down from heaven and lived among men and SERVED them when He was King of All. And He did it JOYFULLY. And I knew that's what I wanted for my life,Joy in serving others, not just doing my duties because that's what is required of me. To give others of my time willingly and not grudgingly. To want the best and do the best for my family even if that means giving up my time and wants. And to do it JOYFULLY. And a peace came to my heart in knowing that this is exactly what God wants for my life-not dread in facing the coming day just because I might be doing exactly the same duties as what I did the day before..and the day before that one, with hardly a break for your own "me time",but a happiness in knowing that I can serve others joyfully with Gods help!
I believe God gave us an example of being a servant in Mark 10:45-For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Also I like this prayer from Leslie Ludy-"God give me the grace to not merely go through the motions of serving my family, but to pour out to them willingly and gladly,as unto You. May each task be done joyfully as a fragrant offering to the One who gave everything for me."
